'Ghosts in the Alleys (of Your Heart)' was a really random project I made with Brian Green. A superb film photographer and experimental sound creator, Brian sources all sources of interesting instruments. We talked about a collaboration many years ago and he kindly gave me free rein to use any of his huge library of single source focused recordings.

Ultimately I used an array of his singing bowl work and quite harsh tones to sample and process before layering them onto four reel-to-reels and doing live mixes and cuts of these warped instruments. Alongside this I had my wonderful Fender Jazzmaster plugged in to a wild distortion chain, so spent around a week layer noisy guitar parts to sit on top and underneath the pieces. The result was 'During The Minority' and it is one of the most overlooked collaborations I have had the privilege to be part of.

We got this excellently mastered by James Plotkin who really connected with the music, and Brian took a wonderful shot of his friend as the cover for this. We ended up doing a small edition of 100 only in Japan and it just sort of went by the wayside as it is a fiercely ambitious album, tonally harsh for the most part with careful melodic structures under the white noise and sub-bass frequencies. It is an album that feels raw and unaffected by life beyond ourselves; I always felt it was unique and wild in spirit and sound.

Brian's own music is out there but he hasn't updated anything online since late 2013 on his See You In Sleep project which is a shame as his singing bowl experiments are incredible. I was really so happy with how the project turned out but sad to see this was one of the last works in his huge creative output that I've heard of and we lost touch a little while later. His early recordings are still on his Bandcamp so I can't recommend you check these out enough:
